Vehicle Maintenance for the Summer

As summer comes around, the heat gets more intense down here in Texas. That’s why it’s absolutely essential that you have a functioning air conditioner in your vehicle. Unfortunately, some drivers have a broken air conditioner, but aren’t sure what all of the signs are. Here at Gillman Chevrolet Buick GMC, we’ve put together some tips on how to tell if your AC is broken.

Your AC Only Works Sometimes

If your AC only works some of the time, then you probably have a faulty part or an electrical short. Oftentimes, a faulty AC is the result of an accident or collision. Check to see if there is something physically blocking the AC that prevents it from functioning properly. Usually, there is a problem with the AC fuse.

Your AC has Obstructed Air Flow

If you try to turn on the AC but find that there is little to no airflow, then you might have a faulty blower motor or an electrical short in your vehicle. Sometimes leaving your vehicle running with the AC off for a few minutes will solve the issue. Another issue might be that something is stuck in your air vents and is preventing air flow. Try cleaning your air filter to see if that fixes anything.

Your AC Only Blows Hot Air

There are a few reasons why your AC might be blowing only hot air. Typically, the radiator is the issue, but be sure to check your coolant and your compressor as well. In addition, keep an eye out for any fluid leaks.

Of course, the only way to know what is actually the problem with your air conditioner, you’ll have to visit our Buick service center in San Benito, TX. Our expert staff will check your vehicle thoroughly and identify any issues with your air conditioner.
