Move Over to Emergency Vehicles and Law Enforcement

Do you know what to do when you see flashing lights on the side of the road? You might think the majority of drivers do, but in a startling statistic released by Mason Dixon Polling & Research, over 70 of the drivers in the United States have no idea what the Move Over law is.

Whether police cars or roadside workers, flashing lights mean these workers are taking care of business right alongside dangerous traffic. There were 200 roadside workers who lost their lives last year, and the same is expected this year according to the National Traffic Incident Management Coalition. The Move Over law is basic on the premise. If you see flashing lights, slow down and move over to a lane so that these workers have a safe distance from your car.

We here at Gillman Chevrolet Buick GMC are trying our best to help get more drivers educated about the Move Over laws.
