First Win for Electric Vehicles for Safety

The Chevrolet Bolt EV has become the first electric vehicle to win the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) "Top Safety Pick" award. This is a huge step forward for having electric vehicles be more widely accepted by most people.

To win this award, a vehicle must score the highest possible in five crash tests that replicate real-world scenarios. The optional crash avoidance system must also score highly, and in the case of the Bolt, it exceeded expectations. In the two different crash avoidance tests – one at 12 miles per hour and one at 25 miles per hour – the Bolt avoided a crash completely.

At Gillman Chevrolet Buick GMC, we have a wide variety of new vehicles for you to choose from. Our team is ready to make your car-buying experience as easy as possible. We are ready to answer all your questions and get you on a test drive as soon as possible.
